Pictures? I hear you say…yes pictures. They will allow you to monitor your growth. It’s hard to tell sometimes whether your hair has grown or how it’s changed, but through pictures you can look at your hair over the months, and gage whether all you’re doing is working, or if you may need to change a few things in your regime.
When I first did the big chop, I felt like it was taking agggggggggges for my hair to grow, but looking at pictures of month 1 in comparison to month 4 I could see growth.
Another important thing is to stay patient, and set realistic hair goals for yourself, hair on average grows 1/4 to 1/2 an inch a month, so don’t go expecting 4 inches in 2 months…most likely isn’t going to happen.
Stay encouraged ladies…hair grows! And yes that includes our type of hair as well.
Comparison pictures of my hair: The picture above was way back when (Jan 2010) and the other was (May 2011) …Hair grows ladies…you’ve just got to be patient with it & treat it the best you can.
And below April 2011 & July 2011! See how important it is to take pictures?!
I’m due another update picture!

love love love it
Was thinking about the same, before I read this. I keep talking to the ladies here in the groups here and the main goal is always to grow as much hair in a short time. Jumping from challenge to challenge to get their hair longer in a short period. It´s not working like that so I´ll probably do a german post or a video about that
this just reassured me that my hair is growing but i dont need to expect it to happen too quick..just did the big chop in March and it helps me a lot to have u guys as advisors. Thanks again for your blog.
Hi Kate! Always happy to be of help! Yeah I found once I stopped obsessing about length and just appreciated my hair for the state it was in, I loved it more, took more care of it, and length eventually came. Enjoy your big chop while you can, because once it’s a full grown ‘fro it’s going to require so much more time and work lol.
